IZAKAYA DEN RECEIVES MAYOR'S 'NEIGHBORHOOD GEM' AWARD

Mayor’s prepared remarks:
Our first “Neighborhood Gem” is Izakaya Den, a Japanese gastro pub at 1487A South Pearl Street. The South Pearl Business District has been the heart of the Platt Park neighborhood for a long, long time. And Izakaya Den is a beautiful addition to this row of well-established neighborhood hangouts. Owner Toshi Kizaki and Hiro and Company wanted a companion piece to their already wildly successful Sushi Den next door. The design by Roth Sheppard Architects and Another One Architects blends inspiration from Japanese culture and the open, community atmosphere that we see all along Pearl Street.  The result, built by Jordy Construction, is a new, visually striking building that’s as unique as the food and culture it serves. It complements its sibling restaurant perfectly and feels right at home in one of Denver’s oldest neighborhoods.
