URBAN PUTT

Urban Putt Denver is a remodel of an 11,900 SF space within the historic Denver City Cable Railway Building (Cable Building). The Cable Building is on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the few remaining structures from Denver’s streetcar history. The timber-framed warehouse space was completed in 1889, functioning as a cable powerhouse and repair center for the Lower Downtown area.

The latest tenant, Urban Putt, is a dynamic entertainment, food, and beverage concept. The Urban Putt aesthetic is inspired by the history of its location, adapting to create a nostalgic immersive environment. Urban Putt Denver channels the history of Denver’s cable car system and shrinks them to mesh with an industrial steam-punk environment.

To balance the steampunk feel, Roth Sheppard designed the restaurant, party rooms, and other gathering areas with a colorful palette that highlight the ‘Vintage Americana’ legacy of mini-golf. Upholstered in plaid, the booths reference the origins of golf while the hallway walls, clad entirely in faux grass, and the 14-foot-long community tables with 1,200 glow-in-the-dark golf balls suspended in resin, playfully incorporate elements of mini-golf courses.
